I booked through mohonk.com and didn’t pay enough attention to how strict the cancellation policy was until my plans changed. That part is on me, but I still didn’t expect it to feel so unforgiving once I actually needed help.
Trying to get a refund was frustrating. I wasn’t asking for some huge exception, just hoping there might be a little flexibility so I didn’t feel like I was just watching a big chunk of money disappear. Instead, I kept getting sent back to the policy, which made the whole thing feel really cold.
I understand hotels need rules, but this definitely changed how I feel about booking there again. When you’re paying that much, the last thing you want is to feel like one change in plans means you’ve just lost your money with no real options

i stayed at mohonk and was surprised by how quiet it felt. there were definitely other guests around, but once i was in the room it felt calm and tucked away. no random hallway noise late at night, which made a big difference for me.

you can hear a few normal old-building sounds here and there, but nothing that bothered me. if anything, it made the place feel kind of cozy. i slept really well both nights, so i’d happily give it 5 stars.

I tried reaching out before my stay and never got any replies, which was really frustrating. It made me feel like I couldn’t rely on their customer service if anything important came up.

I kept clicking around trying to figure out what was actually included and what was going to cost extra, and somehow I still wasn’t 100% sure by the time I got to checkout. The place looks amazing, so I was excited, but the info really could be laid out way more clearly. Not a terrible experience at all, just unnecessarily confusing

Booking was simple enough and the site did work, but it was slow on my phone. I managed to get through it, but it was a bit frustrating and I’d hope for an apology or at least some acknowledgment when the process lags like that...

I booked this kind of on impulse, thinking it would be a cute, cozy romantic weekend, but it just didn’t hit that way. The second we got there, it felt busy and loud, more like a big family resort than a quiet couples escape. The views were definitely pretty, so I’ll give it that, but the overall vibe wasn’t intimate at all. For what we paid, I expected something way more relaxing and special.

When we were booking our stay, I really appreciated that all the prices were laid out clearly from the start. There wasn’t any of that annoying guessing game where you get to checkout and suddenly a bunch of random fees show up. It made the whole process feel simple and way less stressful.

Overall, I had a nice visit and most of the signs were easy to follow. I did get a little turned around near the parking area and the trails, and for a bit it felt like no one really noticed I needed help. Eventually a staff member pointed me in the right direction, which I appreciated. The signage was mostly clear, just a few confusing spots that could be better

The scenery around Mohonk Mountain House is definitely beautiful, I won’t argue with that. The lake and cliffs really do look amazing, especially in photos. I guess I just expected the grounds to feel a little more polished for the price. Some of the paths were crowded and muddy, and a few spots seemed kind of run down or not very well maintained. I was hoping for a quieter, more peaceful walk, but it felt a bit busy and maybe a little neglected in places

We had a really nice weekend overall, and the kids had a great time. There was plenty to keep everyone busy, so it’s definitely a good spot for families. Just a heads up though — it can get pricey fast, so I’d recommend checking costs beforehand and budgeting more than you think you’ll need

Getting there was annoying, honestly. The parking setup was confusing, the signs didn’t really help, and we ended up having to ask a couple people where we were supposed to go. Not exactly the relaxing start I was hoping for.
